Who Would You Thank?

Don was raised by his mother near 19th Leavenworth.  To help with financial support Don dropped out of Central High School after the 10th grade.

One day, Don was window shopping at the Crossroads Mall when he met one of his favorite high school teachers. They exchanged greetings, and then the teacher asked Don "What are you doing now?".  Don was ashamed of his response, so with his hands in his pockets and his head down, Don said "I make mini bikes at a factory on north 16th street."

The teacher placed his right hand on Don's shoulder and said "That's a great start on a career, now when will you finish high school?"  The feeling of the teachers hand on Don's shoulder was incredibly inspirational, and Don felt the touch all the way to the bottom of his feet.  They departed and wished each other the best.

Don left the Crossroads Mall and went directly to Metro Tech, and enrolled in their adult high school program.  Two years later Don received his high school diploma (not a GED he proudly states).

Realizing the power of a good education, Don later obtained his Masters of Science in Public Administration from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln (91), and Masters of Science in Environmental Engineering (95).

Don obtained his real estate license in 1976, and ranked as one of the top 3 producers for a major real estate company while working part-time.  In 1981 Don started his own real estate company (Apple Realty), and later changed the company name to RE/MAX The Producers. In addition, to the joy of selling real estate, Don loves to teach, coach, and mentor agents, or just about anyone he can.

Don's biggest regret is that he never thanked his teacher for the inspiration touch, so he passes it on to all those he can inspire or teach.

If You Can Read or Write, Thank a Teacher...  If You Can't, Find a Teacher
